Washington D.C. Street Cleaning
August 13, 2010 by barrys · 6 Comments
Ever since I got my zone 2 parking permit, I have moved my car every week for the street cleaning. One time I returned early and found out so many cars are still parked there when the sign says it would be towed. Now I am wondering if the city cleans the street at all, and if people actually move their cars? I hardly drive, and not having to move during the weekday would really help.
Any people with insights?
Maryland Town Refunds Speed Camera Tickets

Brentwood Maryland, which borders Northeast Washington, will be refunding hundreds of speed-camera tickets issued over the course of a two week period. And nobody seems to be taking responsibility for whatever error has forced the city to do this. When asked by the Washington Examiner to explain the gaffe, Brentwood Mayor Xzavier Montgomery-Wright responded by saying “I want to end this phone call and not respond. The people calling the press telling them about this pare just trying to shut down the program.” Next the Brentwood Police Chief David Risik was asked for his take on the matter. “I’m not sure exactly what it was other than sometimes we get tickets that are unreadable and you have to be able to read the ticket.” He went on to blame an unidentified “third party vendor,” Maryland-based Optotraffic, which operates the camera program. Optotraffic, responded by pointing the finger directly back at the city. “They had a police officer who was on the municipal leave signing violations for two weeks, and they got caught doing that,” said J. Marcos Sirota, president and CEO of Optotraffic’s parent company.
