New Parking Kiosks Rip-Off – Portland
August 2, 2010 by Blazer · 211 Comments
I went to a wedding last night in downtown Portland. I paid at the kiosk and left the receipt on my dashboard. But upon returning just a half-hour later I found a ticket on my car. Apparently I had parked in a loading zone. It’s a $60 ticket. Is this like a speeding ticket where I might be able to get it reduced or am I going to have to pay the full fine? The sign next to my car was a little confusing when I took a second look, at first showing the two-hour parking but also the loading zone signs. Otherwise it’s been a great first week in Portland.

When police pulled the vehicle over, they found 2 handguns, 5 knives, a machete, a stun gun, handcuffs, a bail bondsman badge, marijuana, an open container of rum, and a clown mask.
Traffic Stop Blood Test OK, But Not Search

Oregon’s Supreme Court has ruled that police do not need a warrant to conduct a blood test to check the blood alcohol content (BAC) of a suspected drunk driver. They do, however, need a warrant or probably cause to “conduct a search during a stop for a noncriminal traffic violation.”
