As was the case last Memorial Day, Harris County will be conducting another “No Refusal” campaign over this year’s holiday weekend. Police will be out in force, with judges and nurses ready at request, to authorize and draw blood of DWI suspects who refuse breathalyzer tests. “The process begins at that point for drawing your blood for testing. If you have concerns or fears about needles, just know that you’ll have one chance – and one chance only – to provide a breath sample test,” said Catherine Evans, head of the DA’s vehicular crimes unit. Last year’s program netted 247 DWI-related charges, with 51 of the defendants having prior DWIs.

Morgan Bourque, a 30 year old Assistant District Attorney in Montgomery County, has resigned his position after being arrested for driving while intoxicated by the Houston Police Department.

Airport EX Tag Parking to End

Since the system of paying for airport parking with an EZ tag costs more than it makes, the Harris County Commissioner’s Court voted to end the program. Out of approximately 350,000 EZ Tag customers, less than half opted into the airport parking system.
