Bus Zone Ticket in San Francisco? Really?

July 30, 2010 by Giants44 · 11 Comments

I was dropping off my GF and pulled over into a bus stop. Yes I know this is bad, but there were no busses to be seen and I thought this was better than blocking traffic on a busy Polk street. While I was in the car saying goodbye (Car still on, my girlfriend was getting out) a parking meter guy pulled up behind me and turned on his little lights.

Two months later a got a parking ticket in the mail. The best part was they sent it to my old address so I got two late charge fee assigned to it (nothing says love then a $123 + $2.50 service fee). Parking police brings nothing to the table (except for a little revenue that they get to pay their salaries). Hate those guys.

Peninsula Lawmaker Seeks Red Light Camera Probe

April 1, 2010 by Giants44 · 3 Comments

Controversy continues to surround the red-light camera program in San Mateo County. The latest public outcry is coming from motorists who have been ticketed for not coming to a complete stop before turning right on a red-light. Although, technically illegal, the violation doesn’t seem to warrant the $446 fine that comes with the ticket. San Mateo Assembly member Jerry Hill has received so many complaints that he has ordered a review of the program to ensure if statewide standards are being met. In addition to that, the county is either reimbursing or reviewing around 7,000 tickets because they were issued before the contract with American Traffic Solutions (the company which operates the program) was approved by the City Council.

No SF DUI Checkpoints Planned for NYE

December 29, 2009 by Giants44 · 7 Comments

The San Francisco Police Department will be out in full force on New Year’s Eve, despite the lack of DUI checkpoints around the city. Still, the department is promising a “zero-tolerance policy on NYE this year.” Despite the lack of checkpoints, the SFPD says that plain clothes officers, as well as those on motorcycles and in patrol cars will be watching for erratic driving. Said, Police Chief George Gascon, to those planning on coming to the city to celebrate to “leave your cars and your guns at home.”
