Alex Trujillo, of Orange County, has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison after being convicted of second degree murder for his role in a fatal drunk driving crash. In October 2008, Catherine Busse was on a bike ride with her autistic son when Trujillo’s pickup crashed into her. Busse died two days later. Her sister called her a “warrior mom” – a term used for mothers of autistic children, and described the loss to her son as “immeasurable.”
2 Hour Time Limit Nonsense in L.A.

I live in the Mid-Wilshire area. One side of the street is Permit Parking Only, and the other side of the street (my side) there is a 2-hour limit. In 5 years of living there, I’ve never seen a ticket written for exceeding the 2 hour limit. In fact, I always have guests park on that side if they’re staying overnight. Then, out of nowhere, I get a ticket. I understand that I’ll never win an appeal with this because I did, in fact, violate the parking rule. But, isn’t it ridiculous for the city to not enforce that law for 5 years, and then decide to write a ticket for it one night? I truly don’t understand this.
Unfair Parking Tickets?

According to an investigation by NBCLA, the city of Los Angeles is writing unfair parking tickets by the thousands. The most glaring examples are those involving broken meters. (The investigation found more than 17,000 tickets were written at spaces with meters that were reported to the city as broken – despite city policy forbidding such tickets to be written.) In fact, NBCLA sent a “researcher” to park her car at a meter on La Brea Blvd, in Los Angeles, which “sometimes flashed ‘FAIL,’” sometimes appeared to work, and sometimes didn’t give time when money was deposited in it. Despite leaving a note on the meter saying “Broken Meter,” the vehicle was ticketed within minutes. In addition to those written at broken meters, the investigation found thousands of other tickets were written which appear to be equally unfair. One example was a ticket containing the following errors: (1) car was noted as being black even though it was silver, (2) car was listed as a “passenger vehicle even though it’s classified as a minivan, (3) the VIN number wasn’t included on the ticket even though it is required by law to be, and (4) ticket was issued for parking on Venice Blvd when the owner of the vehicle was in Orange County at the time. NBCLA asked to question the Chief of L.A.’s Bureau of Parking Enforcement, Jimmy Price, however, neither Price nor anyone else was made available to answer questions.

A suspected drunk driver has done the unthinkable by crashing his Toyota Camry into the back of a parked police cruiser – with the Huntington Beach police officer inside writing a ticket. Not surprisingly, the driver of the Camry has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
