Austin Police Update the Public on the Effectiveness of Red Light Cameras

The Austin Police Department is doing its best to convince residents that the city’s nine red light cameras are a good thing. And, while their numbers show a reduction in accidents in seven of the intersections, two actually had increases in collisions of 33% and 64%. Austin’s city officials want to raise the number of red light cameras in the city from nine to fifteen, which is probably why they’re in the midst of this PR campaign.
