Sen. Lugar’s Wife Guilty in DUI Case

Charlene Lugar, the 77 year old wife of Indiana Senator Richard Lugar pleaded guilty to drunken driving and was able to avoid serving time. She was given a 30 day suspended term, a $250 fine, and her driving privileges restricted for the next year. Lugar was arrested in November after an officer noticed damage to the front end of her vehicle. A breathalyzer later concluded that she had a .11% BAC.
Indianapolis “No Parking” Ticket

I parked to the left of a “No Parking” sign which had a one-way arrow pointing to the right. (I park there everyday on my lunch break.) However, last week there was a ticket waiting for me when I got back to my car. I took a picture, but doubt it’ll work. Anyone have any suggestions?
Governor Signs Bill Limiting Traffic Fines

A new bill signed today by Governor Mitch Daniels will set limits on fines for individuals who contest their tickets in court. After an increasingly high number of complaints from motorists who had their fines doubled and tripled by Judge William Young after he ruled against them. As of July 1st the bill will apply to all Class C infraction moving violations – most speeding instances, running red lights & stop signs, etc.
Indianapolis Revamping Management of Parking Operations

Indianapolis will soon be reviewing bids from private companies to take over the city’s parking enforcement. As a result, Indianapolis residents can expect new and more expensive parking meters – which, of course, will raise revenue for the city (and the company that wins the bid) – at the expense of the citizens. As it stands now, Indianapolis works with Denison Parking which handles the enforcement of the meters, while the city maintains them and collects the money. The new proposal would give the winning company total control over the meters and enforcement, in a long-term deal.
