The city of Union Bridge’s Town Council will hold a public hearing to discuss a proposed ordinance regarding parking tickets. This proposed ordinance would impose an additional late fee if a parking ticket isn’t paid in time. The late fee would be equal to the original fee for the ticket, plus an additional $10. Union Bridge Mayor Bret Grossnickle called the proposal “a matter or housekeeping,” and claims he only wants to make the town’s code consistent in language.

No Parking (How’d You Beat Your Ticket?)

I was parked in front of a burger joint during my lunch break and got a parking ticket – despite the fact that my car was parked legally. The “No Parking” sign had a one way arrow pointing south – meaning parking South of the sign was illegal, parking North of the sign was legal; I was parked North of the sign. I used my phone to snap a picture of my car with the ticket still on it and sent it in with my appeal. Lost the appeal, went to court and won! (Apparently, the enforcement officer had done that to several people throughout the week.)
