The Atlanta Police Department has launched an internal investigation after a video surfaced allegedly showing two officers force drivers to move their illegally parked cars, and then parking their city cars in those spaces before eating lunch. A man only identified as ‘Oscar’ shot the video and can be heard asking one of the cops, “You parked on the street to go get your lunch you was going to write us a ticket?” Oscar claims he later saw the same officer writing tickets to drivers who parked in the same place.

For Ohio drivers, one bonus of the bad economy is that less traffic tickets are being handed out. The reason, however, is not that the state’s drivers are more conscientious – it’s because there are simply less police offers and highway patrol officers on the road due to budget cuts. According to the Dayton Daily News, statewide traffic cases have decreases by 7.2% over the past year. Additionally, DUI cases have gone down by over 6%. “There hasn’t been an outbreak in society, nor good, cautious, or courteous driving out there. Many sheriff’s offices throughout the state of Ohio have laid people off. Therefore, we have not been able to have the number of units we usually have on the road to enforce those kinds of issues,” the executive director of the Ohio State Sheriffs Association.

Double Parking Ticket – Columbus

July 2, 2010 by Oliver33 · 3 Comments

Downtown parking enforcement is out of control. I was dropping my girlfriend off at work on National this week when I got a ticket for double-parking! First of all, my girlfriend had just gotten out of the car. But, the reason I hadn’t pulled away yet was because there was a truck in front of me that wouldnn’t move. I calmly explained to the cop that I was waiting for the truck to leave, but he told me I had already past my time-limit while my girlfriend was still in the car. When I asked him how long that “time-limit” was for he walked away. What a joke
