Chicago Now tackles a question they are asked on a regular basis: How much will it cost to hire a DUI attorney in Chicago? The general ballpark figure is around $1,500, which is worth it according to the publication. “Legal fees are often minimal compared with the real cost of a DUI conviction. The state’s Secretary of State’s Office “estimates that the typical DUI conviction costs a driver $14,660 when all is said and done.” Estimated costs include insurance ($1,500/year), Fines ($2,500), Towing & Court Fees ($500-$1,000), BAC testing devices installed in your vehicle ($600), Classes (“few hundred dollars”), License Reinstatement ($250 – $550), Legal Fees ($1,500), and Missed work.
Arlington Heights Parking Scofflaw Agrees to Pay $44,113

Apparently, Arlington Heights is getting serious about collecting money on unpaid parking tickets. Two Arlington Heights residents, who are among the top “scofflaws” in the city have agreed to pay $44,113 and $10,834 in order to avoid having their driver’s licenses suspended. The individual with $44,113 has almost 750 unpaid tickets. Police began using the boot on those with at least five outstanding tickets around two weeks ago. A recent search of public records showed that there are approximately 2,300 people with five or more unpaid parking tickets.

So if I’m inching out to see if it’s safe to turn right and a pedestrian starts to cross the street, what am I supposed to do? I know I’m not supposed to back up (remember learning that in driver’s school) and it wasn’t safe for me to turn yet. I cannot believe I got pulled over for this crap.
Faith & Whiskey to Host Parking Ticket Party 6/4

Chicago’s premier whiskey bar, “Faith & Whiskey” will host its annual “Parking Ticket Party” on Friday, June 4th. Those in attendance are encouraged to bring in all their parking tickets. Each parking ticket will be worth one raffle ticket. At 1am, the raffle will be held, and the winner will receive a cash prize equal to the total amount owed on their parking tickets – up to $1,200.
Man Cited For Hitting Deputy With Vehicle

Herbert Marshall, 47, has been arrested after hitting a Cook County sheriff’s deputy with his vehicle outside the Daley Center on Wednesday. According to the Sheriff’s office, the deputy was approaching Marshall’s car to ask him how long he’d been parked for when the suspect began driving towards the deputy. The deputy ordered him to stop his vehicle several times before it finally struck him in the leg, at which point Marshall stopped the car. The deputy wasn’t seriously hurt, and Marshall has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of drugs, driving on a suspended license, possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle and not using proper care to avoid pedestrians in the roadway.
