Bus Stop Violations

If ticketed for parking in a Bus-Stop area, check to make sure that your car is, in fact, overlapping with the prohibited zone. Often times, overly aggressive parking enforcement officers will ticket cars which are only close to the prohibited area. If you feel you’ve been ticketed incorrectly, take pictures of the scene and try to get witness accounts as well.

Got a parking ticket for “no standing in bus stop.” I thought I had taken sufficient care. I had parked approx. 3 bus lengths away from the bus stop. I checked all the posted signs, and there was no “no parking” sign that seemed relevant (only one was for street cleaning). Waited for a police officer also, but there was none nearby (asked a few passers-by, and they all said it “seemed ok”). The question is, what is the length of the “bus stop”? How far away does one have to be? Also, does the bus stop “no parking” zone have to be clearly marked by signs?
