Double Parking

If passengers are entering or exiting your vehicle, you are permitted to ‘double-park’ for a short amount of time. If this is the case, be sure to take down witness accounts (preferably from your passengers and other witnesses) and bring them with you if contesting the ticket.

Downtown parking enforcement is out of control. I was dropping my girlfriend off at work on National this week when I got a ticket for double-parking! First of all, my girlfriend had just gotten out of the car. But, the reason I hadn’t pulled away yet was because there was a truck in front of me that wouldnn’t move. I calmly explained to the cop that I was waiting for the truck to leave, but he told me I had already past my time-limit while my girlfriend was still in the car. When I asked him how long that “time-limit” was for he walked away. What a joke.
