Fire Lane

If ticketed for parking in a Fire Lane, double-check to make sure that part of your car is, in fact, overlapping with the fire lane. Often times, cars are ticketed when they’re only in close proximity to the fire lane.

I was helping a friend move a couple of weeks ago and got one of these tickets. We were basically done loading my truck and had to run back up to grab the last of the belongings. I parked in the fire zone, but put my flashers on and we both ran upstairs. (Obviously, you know where this is going.) As I’m heading down the hallway of his apt complex I see a ticket cop pull up behind my truck. Immediately, I start yelling to her that I’ll move my car. She glances up and we make eye contact – and, of course, she immediately begins writing the ticket. Once I get down there, she says “Sorry, I’ve already started writing it, blah, blah, blah.” Whatever happened to people just being friendly?
