Red Light Cameras

It’s important to remember that red light camera tickets are only valid if the registered owner of the vehicle is the one driving. Be sure to check over the ticket carefully and make sure there are no errors. Additionally, many cities offer a settlement program which allows drivers to pay a fraction of the actual cost of the citation.

I got a red light camera at Victory & DeSoto in the valley. I pulled up to the first white line at the red light. In front of the white line is a “KEEP CLEAR” area so buses can pass through, parallel to Victory. Then, past the “KEEP CLEAR” area is about 10 feet of space before a 2nd white line that surrounds the intersection. It was night-time and it looked my car could easily fit in the 10ft of room between the 2nd white line and the “KEEP CLEAR” area – so after I originally pulled up to the 1st white line, I THOUGHT that I was SUPPOSED to pull up to the 2nd white line – because I still wouldn’t be violating the “KEEP CLEAR” area. Well, as soon as I started to inch forward to that 2nd white line, the cameras started going off and sure enough, I got a ticket. Now, obviously I didn’t run a red light here. But, I’ll still probably be screwed to the tune of around $500. Sound fair?
