Parking meter violations are often unfair, as many meters don’t function properly. If you receive a citation for a parking meter violation, make sure you check the meter. If it’s flashing “FAIL,” call the number posted on the meter to report the problem.

Got a meter ticket about 20 seconds after my meter expired. I was running to my car screaming that I’d move it (the meter maid) was in the process of writing the ticket, but told me there was nothing she could do. What is the deal with the 5 minute grace period?
