If ticketed for parking too close to a fire hydrant, taking pictures of the scene is a good idea. If you happen to have a tape measure, ask a witness to assist you in measuring the distance and, if possible, ask for their contact information.

Does anyone know the actual distance one has to park from a fire hydrant in SD? I was a good 15 ft away and still got a ticket. The worst part is that there weren’t any other cars parked near me which means any fire truck would have had PLENTY of room to park.
